Uhura is the Communicatons Officer on the Enterprise under the command of Captain Kirk. She ws born in 2239 on Earth. Her name means Freedom in Swahili. One of her favorite things to do is sing and has serenaded her fellow crew members on many occasions. Uhura is played by Nichelle Nichols.
