Kira was born in Dahkur Province, Bajor in 2343. She is a Colonel in the Bajoran Militlia and as liason officer between Deep Space Nine and Bajor, she also serves as First Officer. She spent most of her life as a freedom fighter trying to free Bajor from Cardassian rule. In 2369 the Cardassians withdrew from Terok Nor (DS9) and Bajor, and the Federation took over the station to make sure the Cardassians kept away from Bajor. Kira came aboard as a Major and was promoted to colonel after six years. She has a romantic relationship with Odo. Kira is played by Nana Visitor.
