Chakotay was born on Earth in 2335. He graduated from Starfleet in 2354. He resigned from his job as Advanced Tactical Instructor in 2370 in order to join the Maquis, a group fighting the Cardassians for the freedom of Bajor, for which his father died. His ship was accidental cast into the Delta Quadrant and he and his crew joined the crew of Voyager and assumed their journey home. Chakotay being of Native Indian heritage has many survival skills. Chakotay is played by Robert Beltran.
